EMILY + MATTHEW | PRIVATE RESIDENCE VINEYARD WEDDING

I wish “infectiously happy” sounded like a positive phrase, because it is the best way I can think to describe these two. Being around them makes you smile and appreciate how special it is to be happy in this life, and have someone to share that happiness with (even in the blustery northwest). Thankfully we live in the same town… I’m looking forward to being prompted b y their happiness for years to come.

____________

WORDS OF ADVICE FROM THE BRIDE: A lot goes into preparing for your wedding day, however, no matter how much planning you do, not everything will be exactly as you expect or imagine. If you let the day just be how it’s going to be it will be perfect! It will likely be better than imagined. Take time to just ENJOY the day, and ENJOY all the people that come to celebrate your marriage!
GROOM’S ADVICE: Always stake down your tents.

ALLI + JACOB | DREAMWOOD WEDDING

I’ve known these two since they were just kids and always hoped they found someone amazing, who would appreciate how much they bring to the table… then they ended up together. Life is funny that way. There’s no question this is one of the cutest weddings I have ever photographed. So many cute moments, cute people, cute looks, cute stories. That used to be a word I had a good amount of disdain for, especially in regards to my work. After having my own children, I see the value in cute things in a way that is still surprising, like when I describe my work as cute.

No apologies for how cute this post is. Alli and Jacob are a great reminder of being young, and in love. Enjoy.

      K+M | OREGON QUEER WEDDING

Just hours after the Supreme Court ruling on same sex marriage, these women exchanged vows, laughed with family and friends, and were married. This was to be my first same-sex wedding (theirs, too), so the logistics of two brides wanting made for entertaining conversation as the three of us sat in a local coffee shop, attempting to figure things out, such as, a double first-look, walking down the aisle, garters and bouquets. They weren’t my details to decide on, the girls brought me into the discussion… that’s very much how this wedding went. These generous, kind, smart women, inviting me into their day. What an absolute honor. What a LOT of dresses… 🙂

As they celebrated with abandon in the water, on a very hot summer evening, I realized I have never seen a national change in law that affected me i the way this ruling did for them. I’ve never been in the position requiring rights to be given me. I do, however, know what marriage is like, and I’ve been in love for many years now. I wish the same for all the LGBTQ couples who are afforded these new freedoms and rights. Finally.
