MIRANDA + TREVOR | MT PISGAH WEDDING

“A thing that you see in my pictures is that I was not afraid to fall in love with these people.”
— Annie Leibovitz

Miranda is one of the very first people I photographed, professionally, and in many ways, gave me more than I could ever repay through her word-of-mouth support. I’m hoping you can see the joy she gives off. I’m hoping you can see how much Miranda and Trevor love each other. And more than anything, I hope these images can act as a small repayment of the debt I owe one of my favorite people in the world.

I put the quote from Annie above for a couple reasons. First, it is one of the ways I conduct my business and find connections with my subjects. I want my photographs to be more than pretty, and more than technically sound. I want images that show the personalities of the people in them. Developing temporary, platonic crushes on my clients allows me to get there with much greater regularity than if I were to simply look for good light. I’m always searching for the little quirks and unique qualities that their friends and family love about them. Second, I absolutely fell in love with these two as a couple, so it felt appropriate. I had high hopes and expectations for Trevor, since I have known Miranda for so long, and with a very happy heart I can say he met every qualification you would want for your friend to find in a spouse. I don’t talk this way often, however, it sure seems like these two were made for each other. (even if Miranda has the good common sense to be a Duck fan, and Trevor roots for the Huskies)

Allow yourself to feel the emotion and get lost in their day. “Honk if you think the bride is cute.”

ANJIE + ROBERT | THE VUE WEDDING

It’s Anjie’s birthday today… well, for another 10 minutes, or so. This seemed like a nice birthday present… a surprise blog post she won’t see until the day after her birthday. Hey, it’s the thought that counts, right? 🙂

The only way I can describe their day is to say it was classy-relaxed. The bed&breakfast was divine for getting ready and dress shots, but not stuffy. The reception venue was modern, but not pretentious. Classy-relaxed was the theme for the day. I could use the same description for Anjie and Robert. Be sure to check out their DJ’s music, he was probably tied with her dress in the bed&breakfast for the highlight of the day, in my opinion.

This is short and sweet, but I better post this before it isn’t the birthday girl’s birthday anymore. CONGRATS to a fantastic couple.

ALLIE + AARON | BOX R RANCH WEDDING

When you shoot weddings, you come to appreciate the ringers on the reception floor. You know, the die-hards, the dependably fun wedding attendees who can always be counted on to deliver the party. A dead dance floor does not photograph well. This is where I first came to develop my gratefulness for Allie. Year after year, this girl came to my weddings and brought her dance moves with her. I imagine everyone who knows her is well acquainted with the smiles and the laughter. I can only hope her huge personality comes through in the images.

Aaron and Allie are perfect together. They compliment each other in the areas they are not similar. They laugh at each other’s jokes. The engagement session was perfect. We had a great break in the weather, and even got kicked out of a church-owned park (we just win like that). Their wedding day was just as perfect. Gorgeous venue, amazing weather, hilarious and moving ceremony, great party. I can’t thank them enough for having me… and I think I should just stop typing and let you smile along with Allie.

DISCLAIMER: with no apologies, I included both of my kids in this post. That’s just the way it is. You know there’s a good connection with the couple when your wife and kids get invited to spend the weekend at the resort.
