It’s a real bonus when a wedding is as fun to attend as it looks like it may have been in the pictures. Reed and Amanda know how to show a photographer a good time, and their wedding was most certainly fun to attend. The venue, the food, the girls, the boys, the Polaroid photobooth… everything was a pleasure to photograph. In this line of work, gracious hosts are to be appreciated and go a long way in creating a great creative space for the photographers. I personally go out of my way to make clients and guests feel comfortable and taken care of, so when the tables are turned and I am on the receiving end of that sort of attentiveness, it says a lot about the couple and their respective families. This is also one of my new favorite local venues. I could explore for 2-3 more weddings and not come close to exhausting all of the location possibilities. Double bonus, when your second shooter is short enough to hide behind the bride & groom during the first kiss on the hill. 🙂
We shot in L.A. for their engagement session, and it fueled the jealousy I feel towards my SOCal photographer friends. That light is just something special. Don’t get me wrong, I have no desire to leave the PNW, Oregon is home forever, it’s just hard to have the knowledge of the glorious, smog-fueled sunsets and unique light without feeling at least a twinge of green. Speaking of green, we walked the UCLA campus as I wore my Oregon Ducks shirt… the way it should be. #GoDucks Griffith Observatory, the Venice Canals, and amazing food. I’m ok with going back whenever someone wants to bring me.
Enjoy this classy couple, and their classy wedding. Big thanks to Brie Mullin for shooting with me, and generally making me look bad by being cooler.
